one else is looking to fix their low or quit sound on their Bay Trail Chromebook here is the fix:

Edit this file: /usr/share/alsa/ucm/chtmax98090/HiFi.conf

Change this line: “cset “name=‘Speaker Volume’ 10” “ to “cset “name=‘Speaker Volume’ 20”

20 make it so I could hear videos but still wasnt not quite loud enough for my old ears. So I set mine to 35. But 20 should be good for the average user.
